Real Project, Real Results
Drag the slider to compare before and after. This is a real Big Build Construction bathroom — original plumbing rerouted, waterproofing rebuilt from the studs, tile and fixtures upgraded to spa-quality.
Every bathroom remodel includes proper waterproofing behind the walls, code-compliant venting, and a written schedule so the bathroom is back in service when we say it will be.
Start Your Bathroom RemodelBathrooms are the hardest room in the house to remodel — and the most expensive per square foot — because of plumbing, electrical, ventilation, and waterproofing all crowded into a small space. A real bathroom remodel moves through design and fixture selection, demo down to the studs, plumbing reroute and electrical rework, waterproof membrane and substrate, tile, vanity, glass, and trim, and final fixtures and inspection. Cutting any of those phases — especially waterproofing — is how cheap bathroom remodels turn into expensive mold problems three years later.
Most Western Washington bathrooms benefit from rerouting the vent stack, upsizing the bath fan to a humidity-sensing unit, and replacing the original copper or galvanized supply lines with modern PEX while the walls are open. These behind-the-wall upgrades aren't optional in our climate — we live in one of the wettest, longest-shoulder-season environments in the country, and bathrooms take the brunt of it.
Porcelain tile outperforms ceramic in wet areas because of its lower absorption rate and harder finish — a critical detail for curbless showers and bathroom floors. Natural stone (marble, travertine) brings character but requires sealing every 12–18 months and isn't recommended for steam showers. Frameless glass enclosures use 3/8" or 1/2" tempered glass with stainless or solid-brass hardware; we avoid the bargain hardware that pits within two seasons of Pacific Northwest humidity.
Fixtures matter more than most homeowners realize. Cartridge-based shower valves from Moen, Delta, and Kohler offer decades of replaceable parts; the cheaper compression valves common in builder-grade bathrooms typically fail within 7–10 years. We help you choose where to invest (waterproofing, plumbing, the shower valve) and where to save (decorative fittings you can swap in five years without opening walls).
