Josh’s Kitchen — Complete Remodel

What Goes Into a Professional Kitchen Remodel

A kitchen remodel is more than swapping cabinets and counters. Every project we run moves through five phases: design and material selection, permit pull and demo, plumbing and electrical rough-in, cabinet and counter installation, and finish carpentry, tile, lighting, and inspection. Plumbing and electrical changes typically require a City permit and at least one rough-in inspection before walls close up, so we sequence the work to keep your schedule on track. Older homes often need supply line replacement, panel upgrades, or load-bearing rework once the cabinets come down — and we flag every one of those in writing the moment we find it, so there are no surprise invoices.

Cabinets typically lead time 4–8 weeks for semi-custom and 8–14 weeks for fully custom, which is why we lock in selections before demo begins. Countertops template after cabinets are set, then run 1–2 weeks at the fabricator. Knowing that sequence is half the battle — it's why our kitchen remodels stay on the written schedule we hand you at kickoff, instead of dragging out the way unmanaged projects often do.

Choosing Kitchen Materials That Hold Up

Quartz remains the most popular kitchen counter material in Western Washington for good reason — it resists stains, doesn't need sealing, and handles the heat and acidity of a working kitchen. Natural stone (granite, marble, soapstone) brings character but requires annual sealing and care around acidic foods. Solid-wood shaker cabinetry with soft-close hinges holds value long after trends shift, and panel-ready appliances integrate cleanly with the cabinet face for a flush look. For flooring, LVP and engineered hardwood both perform well in kitchens; full hardwood demands sealed seams and a vigilant homeowner.

We help homeowners choose between mid-range and premium tiers at every line item — cabinet brand, counter slab, faucet, range hood, lighting plan — and lay out the cost and durability trade-offs in writing. Most of our Western Washington kitchen clients land in the mid-to-upper range because the materials we recommend cost slightly more upfront but pay off in fewer service calls over a 10–15 year horizon.
